Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 will bring the fight to the iPad Mini

Looks like the iPad Mini is about to get an S-Pen-wielding competitor next month

Samsung is set to release an 8in Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet to rival Apple's iPad Mini at Mobile World Congress next month.

According to SamMobile's anonymous source, the Galaxy Note 8.0 will come packing have a 1280x800 8in LCD display, 2GB of RAM, a 5MP and a 1.3MP camera, a 4600mAh battery and will be running Android Jelly Bean 4.2.

The Galaxy Note 8.0- will also arrive with the same S-Pen capability as the Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Note 2, which should make it an attractive choice for creative gadgeteers who want to minimise their tablet footprint.

There's no word on pricing or a release date for the Wi-Fi or 3G 16GB or 32GB models as of yet, but we'll let you know as soon as we find out.
