If you’ve been staring out your Rubik’s Cube since the ’80s, look away now. Rubik’s latest puzzle – the Slide – looks so complicated it could actually melt your brain.

Unveiled at this week’s New York Toy Fair 2010, the Slide has only one face, considerably easier to manage (you would think) than the six on a Cube. Lighted squares move according to how you slide or twist the face, like a hi-tech version of a sliding tile puzzle.

So far, so easy. And the starter puzzles shouldn’t present too much difficulty. But there are over 10,000 puzzles to work through before you can claim to have really conquered the Slide.

There isn’t a computer made capable of calculating how long it would take to solve all of them. The only hard data we’ve been able to generate is the price – £20 – and the launch date – July.
