Pity those poor fools who jumped in and got a normal Walkman phone – they’ve missed out on T-Mobile’s special edition Robbie Williams handset with exclusive pre-loaded content.

Missing out on such a classic piece of merchandising is the sort of mistake a gadgeteer will struggle to live down.

The special edition clamshell W300i – Sony Ericsson’s stripped down, budget Walkman phone – starts and closes down with a video clip of the UK Music Hall of Famer in full concert flow.

You’re also treated to Robbie wallpapers, links to his WAP site and the opening track from the forthcoming World Tour concerts, which the handsets are being released to celebrate.

And then there’s the spectacular paint job. ‘Creatively influenced’ by the man himself – who presumably demanded the flying bat-gimp look – it includes the man’s official logo, and can be replaced by two additional skins, which are bundled with the phone.

Underneath its new leotard, the W300i is the same old music mobile, with the slick Walkman interface, a VGA camera and Bluetooth. There’s also a 256MB Memory Stick so you can load up the man’s classic discography and some Take That too if you’re lucky.

The T-Mobile Robbie Williams W300i will be on sale from June – look out for its crooning on the official site soon.
