Revolights Arc is a brilliant brake light for your bicycle

The brains behind light-up bicycle wheels have come up with another bright idea
Revolights Arc

It's a bike light. I'm finding it hard to get very pumped about this. The Revolights Arc is much cleverer than that. The original Revolights were dead, er, bright – a ring of LEDs on your bike wheels that lit up to provide you with massive front and rear lights – but were tricky to install and quite pricey. Revolights Arc is designed to light you up in a similar manner, but it's cheaper and less fiddly.

How so?It's a flexible USB-charged LED strip that's designed to quickly strap onto your bike's rear fender, providing a bright tailight that's visible from the back or the side – just like the original Revolights. Revolights is also producing a version of the Arc that'll come permanently mounted to either a plastic or metal fender for a measure of anti-theft protection.

Sounds like a bright idea.It gets better – the Revolights Arc is fitted with a speed sensor that'll track when you're slowing down, giving you a brake light for your bike. It'll either increase the brightness or switch from a steady beam to a blinking pattern as you brake.

I'm sold. How do I get one? The Revolights Arc is currently taking crowdfunding pledges on Kickstarter; US$70 will get you the Arc on its own, with the plastic Arc Fender costing US$110 and the metal version costing US$130. Delivery's expected in October 2014 – just in time for the long winter nights. On yer bike!
