Thanks to our undercover network of gadget spies (if we told you who they were, we’d have to kill you) we came across the Vario II smartphone: soon to be released on the German T-Mobile network.

Putting two and two together, it doesn’t take a young Albert Einstein to conclude that the new phone, pictured above, left, has probably been earmarked for a trip to Blighty in the very near future.

This is great news for all you phone followers, since it boasts an even bigger and better feature count than the original (pictured above, right).

For starters, it’s a Super 3G (HSDPA) model, so you’ll be able to enjoy super-quick download speeds when next-generation networks launch later this year.

You might have noticed that there’s also been a slight style change to the keypad - it looks like it’s taken a couple of design cues from the company’s MDA Pro.

Camera power has been boosted from 1.3MP to 2.1MP and it now supports the Micro SD flavour of storage as opposed to the mini.

Although our moles over at T-Mobile weren’t willing to confirm its impending arrival they weren’t denying it. Our thoughts? Start saving for this impressive-looking successor.

[Thanks for the tip-off Eden. Er, he's not our spy. Honest.]
