As we so dutifully reported on Monday, Creative's next Zen is to be a screen-less wonder destined to do MP3 battle with Apple's Shuffle. Now confirmed, the Zen Stone will indeed be a 1GB player that Creative says will enable us to ‘randomly shuffle‘ through favourite tunes, as well as load up multiple, pre-determined playlists. Now where have we heard that before?Creative reckons it's good for up to 500 tracks, if you're happy with heavily squashed 64kbps WMA that is, but around 250 is more like it if you want high quality tracks or full-fat MP3s. It's also fully DRM9 compatible which makes it nice and Napster fill-yer-boots friendly. It only manages 10 hours of battery life to Apple's 12, but hits back with easy mini-USB connectivity (hooray). And our early fears of it being a bloater have been dispelled – at 18g it's only 3g heavier than the Shuffle.Six shades are available, with black, white, green, blue, red or pink on offer for your mood/outfit co-ordinating needs. But here's the real deal breaker: the price tag. It's a measly £28 – that's half the price of the Shuffle. One in every colour please, Creative.
