The world is overflowing with old mobiles. Pick a random drawer in Stuff Towers and you’ll find at least two Nokias, a Sony Ericsson and an original Moto RAZR. We’re awash with the little blighters. In fact, mobile phone do-gooder, Envirofone, reckons if you collected up all the homeless mobiles in the UK alone they’d be worth £1.6 billion – enough to buy three new NHS hospital developments. Actually, let’s put that in a format you’ll understand: 800 million pints of lager. Shocking, eh?Luckily, Envirofone will be bringing its super green, phone-recycling ways to the Stuff Show at Hammersmith’s Novotel where you can swap your old mobiles for a cash sum. The Envirofone chaps will then take your unloved handset and refurbish it, ready to be used again in one of the many growing economies around the world. Doesn’t it just make you feel warm inside? For example, a creaky old Nokia N80 (pictured) will pocket you a handy £46 – enough to pay for Pro Evo 2008 when it hits the shops next Friday, or a round of drinks for the Stuff team in the Novotel bar.
