Hardly the most exciting Zune feature to be revealed on these pages but, according to our friends at Engadget, Microsoft’s new iPod-killer will have a paltry 12 hours of battery life. That would see the Zune-wearing Energizer bunny grind to a tuneless halt a full two hours before his Apple-adorned companion. Video playback is also half an hour down on Steve Jobs’ finest, with just three and a half hours in the tank. Of course, it’s all rumour and speculation for now because battery life is just one of the details about which Microsoft is remaining tight-lipped. Bill Gates’ crew have until November this year to fix it but, with that large screen and built-in wireless, the battery must be taking a battering. Essentials
