Quad-core Tegra 3 phones shipping this quarter, says Nvidia

The chip maker confirms rumours of incoming quad-core goodness. Roll on MWC!

Confirming what we basically knew all along, Nvidia has revealed that quad-core Tegra 3 processors will be in our hands this quarter. In the company's yearly earnings report, the Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang revealed that "this quarter we are expecting to ship Tegra 3 based superphones."

Nvidia had previously teased the launch of quad-core phones at Mobile World Congress, and the company's now confirmed that we'll be seeing Tegra 3-powered devices on the stands at MWC.

No great surprises, then manufacturers from HTC and LG to Asus have been hinting that they'll be launching Tegra 3 smartphones at MWC, but it's nice to have confirmation from the horse's mouth that we'll be toting quad-core phones sooner rather than later.

We'll be reporting from Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later in the month, so check our dedicated MWC page for all the latest info on the show's quad-core smartphone goodies.
