Pure’s design department were clearly down to their last HB pencil when they came up with this new DAB, but at least the radio boffins got a bit creative– it features the company’s ‘ReVu’ tech for rewinding live shows.

Looking at the rest of Pure’s DAB line, this is something of a privilege for the Elan RV40 – only the Bug, PocketDAB 2000 and Elgato mini hi-fi are blessed with the handy ability to pause and rewind through the last 30 minutes of radio.

This won’t prevent it from being taunted by lookers like the Chronos as Pure’s grey-faced John Major, but the RV40 can at least highlight its extra features over the original Elan in reply.

Chief of these is textSCAN, which lets you pause and scroll DAB text to note down web addresses, and its copious memory will also store Intellitext messages, which provide news headlines and sports results.

It hasn’t forgotten about its basic duties as a DAB radio either – there’s also 20 station presets, a DAB/FM alarm and a 20-hour battery from six C cell batteries. Beat that, Mr mains-powered Chronos.
