PSP cam and sat-nav officially arrive next month

With the flurry of Xbox 360 add-ons cascading at us out of the gaming fountain, Sony also has a couple of new gizmos up its sleeve, all ready to show off at the Tokyo Game Show at the end of September.

Details are still sketchier than an episode of Art Attack but we do know there’ll be two new accessories for the PSP being paraded in Japan alongside the 27 PS3 games – a camera and a GPS receiver. Is there anything Sony’s handheld won’t do?

Our moles say the camera will be an EyeToy style add-on, so expect a few games to coincide, too. It would be a waste if it couldn’t take the odd snapshot as well, seeing as photo storage is one of the PSP’s primary functions.

The GPS receiver will be a Ronseal job – doing exactly what it says on the tin. We understand it’ll be designed for car use, although we can’t see any reason why you won’t be able to use it on foot as well.

There aren’t any official pics of either yet: we’re expecting them soon.

The show – which kicks off on September 22 – will also give PSP owners the chance to download trial versions of new games directly to their Memory Sticks via special booths. Shame you won’t have the GPS add-on to help you get there. Maybe next year, eh?
