Eagle-eyed PS3 devotees had spotted something missing from the front of Sony’s new gamer: an infra-red port. Now we know why. The Blu-ray controller won’t be using old-school light waves but new-fangled Bluetooth. So it should happily zap through the door of a TV cabinet, or solid walls if you happen to be listening to music next door. Unfortunately Sony’s not spent quite as much time thinking about the aesthetics (didn’t we buy a hi-fi with this remote ten years ago?) but, hey, it’s functional. The remote’s available from launch in Japan. Expect it to appear here at the same time as the PS3 proper.
