Set your alarm for an early start tomorrow morning – our sources have confirmed the PS3’s revised launch schedule will be announced at 6am GMT.
The news follows mounting speculation on the web that Sony Japan would be divulging details on the biggest gadget launch of the year at its global conference, and all but confirms that the PS3’s original spring launch won’t be happening.
It’s what we’ve been suspecting since last month. Sony has apparently been struggling to prepare the various ingredients of the PS3 recipe – most notably the processor and Blu-Ray capability – and a big US games retailer set a pre-release date of 1st October for the console’s launch games.
We think this means the lucky beggars in Japan will get their PS3 launch shortly after the E3 show in May, followed by an October US launch and then, fingers tightly crossed, a UK bow in November.
Luckily, the time has come for all this educated guesswork to cease. Make sure you come back to our site tomorrow for 7am – our super-dedicated web team will be up at a silly hour to give you a live report.
