PS3 to get movie-game hybrid discs

If you haven't exactly been blown away by BD-Live (a feature that lets you access extra online goodies for the film you're watching on a 'Profile 2.0' Blu-ray player) Sony might soon have something else to tempt you – Blu-rays with both a movie and its official game on the same disc.

It seems Sony has been trying to think of new ways to fill up the 10GB-20GB that's normally left empty on most Blu-ray films, and thinks the movie-game double whammy is the way to do it. Talking to Video Business, Director of Hardware Marketing John Koller said: 'There are a lot of developers who say we have this game based on a movie, wouldn't it be great to marry these concepts? We will definitely see this stuff this year'.

While movie-game tie-ins don't exactly have the best track record – ahem, Iron Man – it could be a cheaper and more convenient way to land a blockbuster flick and game. What do you think of Sony's plan? Let us know below.
