We've only just got over the bad news about the PlayStation Vita's release date being pushed back to 2012 here in the UK. Rubbing salt in the wound comes the news that Sony's next-gen portable games console is to launch in Japan just before the Christmas rush.
We can thank GameAlive for the unconfirmed reports, which suggests the touchscreen-toting Vita will be hitting the Japanese market on 12th November.
Originally called the NGP, the Vita shows off a 5in multitouch screen, rear touchpad, dual analogue sticks, and a quad-core ARM Cortex A9 processor, connecting either via Wi-Fi or 3G. March 2012 is the touted release date for the UK, with a £280 price tag for the 3G privilege and £230 for Wi-Fi-only action.
In other news, the latest rumours to do the rounds suggests Sony is set to release 18 new and previously unannounced PS Vita games prior to the console's launch.
