If you already proudly pack a Pentax compact, step away now - there's not going to be much here to tempt your hand into your pocket. If, however, you're fishing around for a zoom-equipped 4 or 5MP compact, cast your eyes over these. Optio SVI (left) Unless we're losing our touch, there's only one thing new between this and the old SV - the grip on the right-hand side. Apparently it's grippier. Hmm. Exciting stuff, Pentax - couldn't you have squeezed in a 6MP chip while you were at it? It's £250, out June. Optio S5Z (middle) The S5's succesor has a slightly more significant upgrade - the screen's grown up to the lovely, back-filling 2.5 inch size that's now become standard on cutting edge 4-6MP compacts. It looks like a decent cam, but we still prefer the SV's 5x zoom. Again, £250 in June. Optio S45 and S55 (right) These 4 and 5MP snappers look identical. They're also virtually identical to their predecessors, the S40 and S50, aside from a couple of aeshetic tweaks. They'll be £150 and £200 when they go on sale at a summer date that's TBC.
