Despite what the weatherman might say we're packing our ponchos for another wet Glasto in a couple of weeks. We're not taking any risks this year, and neither is Orange with this whopping great temple of environmentally friendly phone charging.
At seven metres tall and decked out in fetching bright orange (what else?) the Recharge Pod should stand out like a beacon up in the Pennard Hill camping area of Worthy Farm when the inevitable happens and your mobile carks it.
On top there's a wind turbine and a handful of optimistically placed solar panels, which feed any juice they grab down to a charging hub inside the tent. With enough power to energise 100 mobile phones in an hour, Orange reckons the Pod will be a lifesaver for thousands of Glasto goers.
In fact, the mobile network estimates that the energy harvested would be enough to power a DJ booth for a marathon 88-hour set by Groove Armada. Thanks for the offer, Orange, but we'd rather just have our phone charged if it's all the same to you.
