We’ve seen many a DAB micro system over the past year, but none has managed to oust Onkyo’s CS-515DAB from the top of our Hi-Fi Top 10. And now their job’s got even harder: Onkyo has just announced a sequel, and a new budget sibling for the micro master.

The CS-525DAB isn’t a major upgrade, but has added a USB port so you can hook up your MP3 player or hard-drive and blast your tunes through its 26w bookshelf speakers.

It’s also been given a glossy black paint job, and you still have the option of buying the CD/DAB receiver on its own for £250. We’ve not heard it in action in yet, but with the same DAC and amplifier tech it should produce best-in-class sound quality.

If that’s too expensive for you, Onkyo’s also rustled up a budget version for the hard-up. Called the CS-325UKD, it generously includes a CD player, DAB/FM tuner and an iPod dock, all for an impressive £200. We’ll take two, thanks.
