Never content to announce a mere one or two new arrivals, Olympus has unleashed the fury with nine new compacts.
We’re loving the additions to the shock- and waterproof Stylus SW Mju range, with the 10.1-megapixel 1030 SW (pictured) the new king of the slopes, beach and pool. Fully protected against falls, being dropped into 10m of water and sub-zero outings, it also boasts a wide-angle lens and 3.6x optical zoom.
Alongside it is the 8mp 850 SW with 3x zoom lens. Both get face detection but only digital wobble reduction, so keep those hands steady.
Olympus has also reclaimed the ‘world’s most powerful compact zoom’ title with the SP-570 UZ, now with a stonking 20x wide-angle optical zoom and dual image stabilisation to keep it steady.
The premium Stylus Mju range gets three new entrants that now stretch up to 7x optical zoom (the 10mp 1010 and 1020) or 5x optical (the 8mp 840).
Rounding things off nicely are three new 8mp additions to the budget FE line-up, with the 4x wide angle optical zoom 350, the 5x standard optical zooming 340 and the bargain-basement 310, which also gets an impressive 5x optical zoom.
That should be enough to keep you going for a while.
