You might still be able to grab one in-store if you’re lucky, but the company’s monumental miscalculation of demand means Amazon will be laughing all the way to the bank this Christmas.
“While we increased production based on the high consumer interest, we’ve sold out of our initial Nook allotment available for delivery before the holidays,” the company said in a statement.
The Nook is quickly turning into a PR nightmare, with holiday season pre-orders now doomed not to reach their would-be owners till the next year, and you wouldn’t bet on further delays either. So unless you want to gift a Barnes & Noble email to your family, it might be a good time to start looking at back-up presents. An Amazon Kindle maybe?
