Nokia has released details of the X5 at the Nokia Connection event in Singapore today.

The Nokia X5 is just about the squarest phone we've ever seen, and will definitely be a bit of a Marmite choice.

Nokia is touting its gesture-based controls, including "spinning" the phone to shuffle tracks and shaking it to reveal new messages. It also supports all the major social networking sites so you can instantly tell all your friends about your new square phone.

For key fans there's a full QWERTY slideout keyboard and as you would expect it includes Ovi Music access and Comes With Music.

There's a 5MP camera onboard with LED flash, and a 2GB Micro SD card (upgradeable to 32GB). For those frustrated with one-day battery life of some phones, Nokia is claiming a 16 day standby time or 24 hours music playback.

There's no price or launch date yet for the X5, but we'll keep you posted.
