For those who like mobile gaming - and we do - the re-launch of the N-Gage platform is finally upon us, causing excitement amongst Nokia N series owners who can play the slew of promised games.

And Nokia has kept to its promise of launching its N-Gage service before Christmas (just) and will be rolling out the mobile gaming service this week.

But N95 and N82 owners will be gnashing their teeth as it’s exclusive to the Nokia N81 until next year.

Small comfort may be found in the fact that it will be a beta version of the N-Gage service and will only have a few games at the start. These include Brothers in Arms, The Sims 2 Pets and FIFA 08.

Nokia has announced that virtual pet game Creebies and film noir detective game Dirk Spanner and the Fallen Idol for 2008.

A Nokia spokesperson told us the UK launch should happen in the next week.  We hope the new N-Gage doesn’t go the way of the original 2003 N-Gage handset and its follow-up, the N-Gage QD.

Let’s say a far-from-fond farewell to those White Screens of Death, Nokia.
