Nokia reveals virtual mobile secretary

Secretaries get a hard time, don’t they? In the hit documentary 9 to 5, starring Dolly Parton, three secretaries struggled to be taken seriously. And in Ugly Betty, Betty the secretary has to put up with that awful boss who looks a bit like a Madame Tussauds extra.

To give the poor humans a break, Nokia has revealed a ‘virtual’ secretary for your mobile phone.

Really a trumped-up avatar, this virtual secretary will alert you to incoming calls and texts, even answering them for you if you’re too busy to do it yourself.

There’s a variety of models to choose from, if the one pictured isn’t to your liking. Or, for that extra creepy factor, you can customise it by adding a photo of any face you like.

It’s been built by Chinese IT company Intergrafx and is billed as a ‘personalized dream baby’ – though that’s probably a translation issue rather than a sexist label.

Nokia reckons it’ll be a useful addition to your life and is aiming to release it in Europe next year.

Just don’t make her too pretty or you’ll upset your virtual wife.
