Here's a strange one - an eagle-eyed Stuffer found a new Nokia phone on the Carphone Warehouse website. Dubbed the 'High Fashion', the phone bears a striking resemblance to concept images of a phone code-named 8600 'Luna', which have been floating around the web for some time. It looks like a restyled 8800 with a translucent plastic keycover instead of a metal one.

So what? Well, the phone looks lovely and we want one. Usually, that means a quick chat with our friends at Nokia, who pop a pre-production unit in the post under the stern warning that we must return it sometime soon.

But this time I was greeted with flat denials of the phone's existence: "it's not a product we know about or are launching". This is the sort of response we expect from the secretive bods at Apple, but not the 'have-a-look-at-our-roadmap-for-the-next-decade' Nokians.

A change of PR tack? A prototype that won't see the light of day? A publicity stunt by Carphone Warehouse? Who knows. But one things for sure: I want a 8600 even more now.
