Here's the first convincing shot we've seen of the much rumoured Nikon D40, a budget release to slip in under last year's D50.On first look it appears to be a smaller, slightly curvier version of the now ageing model. Shots of the rear show a similar layout but with a larger 2.5in display.Bucking the trend for ten megapixel sensors, the general consensus is that it will share the same 6.1megapixel CCD but will come with a new G-II version of the 18-55mm kit lens.Prices are expected to be low, possibly around the £350 mark that the D50 can now be had for. Similar leaks ahead of the D80's launch proved accurate. Let's hope this one's true.
