News Nugget – Altec Lansing Octiv 450 iPad dock launches

Need a speaker-based seat for your iPad? Altec Lansing says you can swivel for it. In a good way

The Octiv 450 is the first in what Altec promises us will be a slew of tablet-based dockery. It’s a fairly basic 2.0 system with a pair of 2in drivers that’ll make do with your tunes and TV noise in the kitchen, but would struggle to get the party started.

Still, if you’re after a Christmas gift for the iPad owner who has everything, and you can’t afford to drop £900 on B&O’s BeoSound 8, Altec’s asking price of £130 for the Octiv 450 should see you scurrying off to your large electronics shop of your choice to pick one up this weekend.

If you’re holding out for quality, expect news of an expansive range of 2011-bound iPad docks to come out of CES in January.
