It seems an odd time to spring a leak in view of Apple’s new iPods tomorrow, but details of Microsoft’s new Zunes have come to the web’s attention.
After Amazon let the cat out of the bag about the 120GB Zune, another US electronics store has posted details of a new royal blue 8GB Zune. The flash player looks like it’ll have the ability to tag songs while listening to the FM radio, which you can then download when you sync with your PC.
You’ll also be able to nab these songs when you hook up to a wireless hotspot as well as shopping at Zune Marketplace (in the US for now) and refreshing ‘Channels’. These are customisable playlists along Last.fm lines that allow you to download a music stream picked to your musical tastes.
And finally the Zune’s getting a tad more fun with preloaded games including Texas Hold’em. Who needs an app store, eh?
Whether Microsoft will be able to steal some of Apple’s thunder this week is doubtful, but it’s a handy reminder that there’s a world outside of the iPod.
