Nintendo has launched a new trailer for New Super Mario Bros. Wii at Gamescom and I have gone into meltdown with excitement.
I was a massive fan of Super Mario Galaxy which introduced Mario's bee suit and was oddly dark in places. Meat eating monster flowers almost gave me nightmares.
New Super Mario Bros. features a bigger role for Luigi and a more traditional scrolling platform format. But there's lots of new power-up suits to be gawped at too.
From the 1.32 trailer for New Super Mario Bros. we've spotted three new garbs for Mario – a suit with a propeller hat that allows him to fly (replacing the classic magic raccoon hat), a penguin suit for navigating an ice level and a new underwater suit.
The clip also reveals a set of multi-coloured Yoshis to ride on and some multi-coloured Toad-esque characters.
In terms of levels, New Super Mario Bros. definitely features the following: the aforementioned ice stage, an underwater level, a sky stage with evil cloud enemies and flying Manta-rays, an Egyptian level and a run through a mine.
The music also seems to have had a refresh with the classic Mario synth burbling gaining an almost '60s tinge. New Super Mario Bros. looks like it'll be massive but we'll have to wait until November to find out for sure.
