Eight years after its hyped-up launch, the PlayStation 2 is getting another overhaul. This time the changes are internal as Sony releases a lighter, cheaper PS2 in Japan later this month. It’ll hit UK shores in the New Year.According to Sony, the new PS2 will have a built-in AC adapter meaning less to lug around, more space on the floor – that kind of thing. The same-looking-but-actually-a-bit-different PS2s will come in three exciting, striking colours; black, white and silver.Sony also took time to paint some PSPs a fetching ruby red colour. They’re out in Japan later this month too, but, alas, there are no plans to bring them to Britain. They’ll be easily imported though, if you must have one.We know what you’re thinking; ‘Why bother with the PS2 when PS3 is out and is very lovely’. Don’t scoff at the PS2, guy. It’s sold 120 million units since launch and is still giving the Wii and Xbox 360 a run for their money.
