Nintendo big-wigs at the Leipzig Game Convention have revealed the Wii will cost ‘less than £170’ in the UK. That’s something of a surprise after initial announcements suggested it’d ship for significantly less.
With the US price of $250 (£133) announced back in May, a direct conversion implied - with higher UK prices taken into account - the console would retail at no more than £150.
Although the exact price hasn’t been officially confirmed, that extra 20 quid means we’ll be paying nearly £50 more than our friends across the pond for a fix of Mario and Wii Tennis: a relatively small but not inconsequential price hike.
With the Tokyo Game Show just around the corner, expect more official Wii news the moment we get it.
