We’ve heard rumblings of a big Apple event in August before, with new MacBooks supposedly in the offing. And now MacRumors is fuelling the flames with reports that Apple has told retailers there’ll be depleted stock of their current models in the coming weeks. On top of that, Commerical Times says Apple has upped its orders for notebook circuit boards. Sounds pretty dull, but this is just the kind of behaviour you’d expect before a big launch.Intel has just outed its new Centrino 2 platform too. Other laptop heavyweights have dropped machines with the new chipset, with Sony leading the way with the Vaio FW Series. So, what can we expect from a new MacBook? Well, a whole new look for one. Chances are it’ll have an aluminium case, like the Air and Pro and hopefully a complete redesign. And how about a 12in iBook–alike? We can only hope.
