Apple has set the date for this year's Worldwide Developers Conference. The event will run from 8th-12th June, and could mean both the return of Steve Jobs and the introduction of a brand new iPhone.

We've already heard rumour-rumblings claiming that the third generation iPhone was coming this June, so Apple's dating seems significant. His Jobsness, meanwhile, has been on medical leave, and is scheduled to return towards the end of June - but it's not inconceivable that he could come back a little early in order to introduce a headline-grabbing product such as a new iPhone.

The WWDC should also showcase the new iPhone 3.0 operating system and Snow Leopard, the latest version of Mac OS X.
