MWC 2015: Alcatel Onetouch’s Pixi 3 tablets are out for the pocket money crowd

Could be ideal for the younglings in the family....

The classic tale of the tablet is that you have no idea what you’ll use one for until you get one, and find it’s indispensible. Well, the low-cost Alcatel Onetouch Pixi 3 tabs are for people really not sure if they need one.

Judging by the specs, you really shouldn’t need to scrimp too long to afford an Alcatel Onetouch Pixi 3, although we’re still waiting on official pricing.

They come in 7-inch and 8-inch varieties, with either a 1024 x 600 or 1280 x 800 pixel display depending on the size. Glitz is not the aim here.

However, they are light, just 260g for the 7-inch variety, and there will be Wi-Fi only, 3G and 4G varieties doing the rounds.

The lower-end Snapdragon 210 and entry-level screen supply the ‘cheap’ in the cheap and cheerful Pixi 3 package, while the cheer comes in the form of colourful, customisable backplates.

There are seven colour plates planned, giving you a bit more freedom of expression than a drab old Nexus 7. You can also get colourful folio-style cases for the Onetouch Pixi 3 tablets. We'll keep an eye out for more release details of these low-cost tablets.
