Motorola and Samsung set to reveal iPhone killers this Wednesday

Moto and Sammy attempt to usurp Apple's throne, but will hard-hitting specs be enough?

Motorola and Samsung look set to bring their big guns to the smartphone arena this Wednesday in a bid to out-shine Apple’s iPhone 4S which has seen record-smashing sales figures over the past weekend.

First up to the plate is Samsung, which will be revealing the long-awaited Galaxy Nexus smartphone alongside Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich Android OS.

A recently leaked pre-order website has tentatively listed the Galaxy Nexus as packing in an impressive 4.65in 720p (1280 x 720) display with a pixel-packing 320ppi as well as 1GB RAM, 32GB storage and a 1.2GHz dual-core A9 processor – specs which should definitely give the iPhone 4S a run for its money.

Round two sees Motorola entering the ring with the announcement of the Spyder, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor-powered beast with 1GB of RAM and a 4.3in Super AMOLED screen and purported 8MP snapper.

Said to be thinner than the iPhone 4S’s already lithe body, the appeal of heavyweight specs in a welterweight shell may be too much for tech-heads to resist.

If you’re on the fence between Apple’s app-filled garden and the alluring green grass of Google’s Android then you’ll be in for a tough choice come this Wednesday. Good luck.
