Those crazy Finns need reigning in once in a while. Now that we’re out of the wilderness years of round keypads and ever more bizarre handsets, Nokia’s been sitting down to find out what the humble buying public want. The answer, it seems, is this. And, unlike the car that Homer Simpson built, it looks like Jo Public might have got it right. There’s the clamshell design (tick), simple menus (tick), camera and video recorder (tick) and onboard MP3 player (tick, tick, tick). But then there are also a good few features we weren’t expecting on a ‘bog standard’ phone. A memory card slot for up to 2GB of storage is very welcome and stereo Bluetooth for listening to music wirelessly is generous beyond belief. The screen’s a little cramped but it does have a decent 262,000 colours. Quick, go and ask to borrow a tenner while they’re still in the mood.
