Microsoft Surface phone incoming?

The software giant's upcoming range of Windows 8 tablets could have little mobile brothers for company

Microsoft could release a range of Surface phones to compliment its Windows 8 Surface tablets if the latest online rumours come to fruition.

Windows Phone blog WPArea spotted a Microsoft Surface Phone device on Windows Phone benchmark software WP Bench, suggesting that the Redmond software giant has a Surface-inspired mobile deep within its labs.

If true, we could see the first Microsoft Surface phones launch around the end of next month to coincide with Windows 8's October 26th release date – although we're taking the rumour with a hefty pinch of salt for the time being.

Still, if the end product resembles designer Jonas Daehnert's Microsoft Surface phone concept above, we'll be happy gadgeteers indeed.
