Microsoft shows off PS3 upsetter

The ground is starting to tremble already. As thousands of feet stampede towards shops to get in line, we can nearly feel that control pad in our hands. Yes, the PS3 launch is only months away.

Microsoft can feel it too and it knows full well it’ll have to let off some serious fireworks to distract from the hype surrounding Sony’s new console. It doesn’t take a genius to work out what kind of firework it might be either. Here’s a hint – it’ll probably include the letters DVD and HD.

Thanks to the chaps at HDTV UK (link below) we’ve been made aware of a new page on the Microsoft website dedicated to their forthcoming HD-DVD add-on for the Xbox 360.

The drive will bring the 360 more or less in line with the PS3 in terms of hi-def disc capabilities, a feature that’s always given Playstation fanboys something to carp about.

No doubt the plan is to upset the PS3’s November 18th launch as much as possible, launching the drive in time to show exactly how much more expensive than the 360 a PS3 will be.

To check out some new snaps of the drive, head over to the Microsoft site via the link below.
