At last, a worthy contender to our Yamaha YSP-800 one-box, Marantz's OPSODIS – or Optional Source Distribution – ES7001 does the same five-channel surround from one unit trick but also comes with an optional sub for true 5.1 audio.By bouncing sound around the room, Marantz reckons it can direct the sweet spot perfectly to your sofa. The optional 50W sub should give it the grunt that's often missing, while another optional extra – a black and silver stand – keeps the unit, sub and your telly stacked neatly together in uncluttered perfection.Trumping the Yamaha it has all the amps on-board and two HDMI jacks for velvety HD audio from your hi-def disc spinner.Naturally it's out in Japan first but we're keeping our ears pinned back for news of its arrival here.
