The guys at Logitech have clearly been eating their Weetabix and going for their morning runs. We’ve seen gorgeous portable speakers and super-scrolling mice in recent days, and now they’ve dropped some PC speakers that have awoken us from our post-Bank holiday slumber.

The Z-10s are clever for a number of reasons. Firstly, they have a display which, thanks to the bundled software, can list track and album info from music players like iTunes and Windows Media Player and Musicmatch, along with clock and volume levels.

This is helpful if you want to turn your monitor off and use your PC as a hi-fi, and there’s further help from the touch-sensitive keys. Among the usual play and skip track buttons, there are also four preset buttons for your favourite internet radio stations or playlists – saving you from crawling through your computer’s menus. Very nice.

The Z-10s are so confident in the sonic ability of their 1in tweeters and 3in woofers that they don’t include a separate subwoofer unit. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack for post-midnight music.
