Sony has launched Life with PlayStation for the PS3 today. It's kind of a Google Earth packed with dynamic web content but minus the detailed maps.

By swooping around the globe you can quickly get your fill of local news, webcam feeds and weather information from 60 cities around the world.

Life with Playstation has also swallowed Folding@home, which now runs inside it. Folding@home is Stanford University's distributed computer program for unravelling the mysteries of protein folding and links to diseases and cancer.

As you scour the planet for info you can listen to your favourite tracks in the background, with the option of selecting by six different categories. Recommended, energetic, calm, dramatic, upbeat and electronic are all on offer.

PSP users can use remote play to access Life with Playstation, so wherever you are in the world you can find out about wherever you want in the world.

PS3 users can download Life with PlayStation simply by choosing the Folding@home icon in the Network section and getting an update.
