LG bundles unlimited music with phones

Vodafone users with select Sony Ericsson and LG handsets such as the Viewty (pictured) will be no stranger to Omniphone's MusicStation – the subscription-based music service for mobiles that's a rival to Nokia's forthcoming Comes With Music.

Now LG is the first to offer MusicStation Max mobiles – handsets ready loaded with 18-month subscriptions, so you can download to your heart's content while on the move.

The catch? The subscription only lasts the length of the contract, so if you're changing phones you'll either have to stump up for a new sub, upgrade to another MusicStation Max handset or lose all the tracks and playlists you've painstakingly built up. Hold on to the phone, though, and they'll all stay on there.

LG hasn't officially announced the handsets the service will be offered on, but it has been showing off a 3G device at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with what it describes as a "next generation touchscreen user interface" and slide-out keyboard. iPhone, watch out.
