Lego drum machine rocks beats with bricks

Sure you could just bang around on pots and pans, but where's the geekiness in that?

It’s no secret that we’re a bunch of big Lego heads here at Stuff, which is why we’re currently ogling this homemade Lego drum machine with longing eyes.

Crafted by Lego architect Mark Crosbie, the NXT-driven set up above connects to a PC and acts as a scanner in which different coloured bricks produce different sounds.

Mix them up any which way you like, let a handy bit of software convert them into MIDI beats, and bam,  you’ve got yourself a rhythm-infused stew brewing. Tasty.
