Kindle Fire UK release set for January 2012?

Amazon's first tab could take down the Android competition from as soon as next month

An insider mole has let the chaps at Know Your Mobile in on details of the Kindle Fire's UK release – and we like what we hear. Amazon's first stab at the crowded Android tablet game should be winging its way to the UK in January, if the source is to be believed.

That may not be in time for Christmas, but if Amazon keeps the price as low as in the US – we're thinking sub-£200 would be nice – then a lot of us might be overcome with the urge to stash away some pennies for the new year.

The Kindle Fire is certainly no iPad killer but analysts have been raving about Amazon's tablet today. Some even reckon that with a global release, the Kindle Fire could swallow up half of the market for Android tablets. So if you don't mind living your life in the cloud and compromising a little with Gingerbread 2.1 – as well as sacrificing Bluetooth and a camera – you could be snapping up this (hopefully) cut-price tab in no time at all.
