Heavy metal fans might just have found their perfect iPod pal in KEF’s new Picoforte One (pictured), which moshes happily with all current iPod flavours. Despite only measuring 16cm tall, each of its die-cast zinc speakers weighs 1kg and pumps out a not-to-be-sniffed-at 25W of riffage. It uses the same audiophile-pleasing UniQ drive units found in KEF’s KHT5000 and KHT6000 systems for proper stereo sound. Extra bass in the place can be dealt with by a subwoofer connection and an S-Video out offers video piped to your telly. The 3.5mm jack caters for Apple’s adversaries and the whole thing is finished off nicely with a ‘credit card’ remote. Should the One fall short of your expectations, it’ll shortly be followed by the Picoforte Three (what happened to Two?), which will use the larger speakers from the KHT3000. The One hits shops in August and comes in white or gloss black, for the more dedicated metaller.
