JBL anoints iPod with alarm clock

Every day is an iPod Jubilee with JBL’s On Time speakers. Nestle your iPod in the bosom of this bonkers-looking alarm clock and you can wake up to music stored on your iPod. Hot damn! Will you ever have a decent excuse to be late again?

Like the old JBL On Stage iPod dock, the On Time has an Apple iPod Universal Dock adapter, compatible with most docking versions of the iPod. Of course, both sets of speakers look their best when your ‘Pod is reigning on high, but Apple refuseniks will be pleased to hear they can be hooked up to other MP3 players and anything else with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Where the On Time really kicks the On Stage’s arse is with its dual alarm clock, AM/FM radio and some regal speaker tech. It also has what JBL calls halo acoustics or – equally mumbo jumbo – horizontal acoustic level optimization. Basically it has an upward-firing tweeter and horizontal low and midrange transducers to provide a 360-degree sound field, so it should sound good from any direction.

All told, we think this is a perfect Valentine’s gift for the love of your life. There’s only one catch – it’s not out ‘til March, when you’ll be able to pick an On Time up for £120.
