Following in the footsteps of the Kaiser Chiefs and Radiohead, US singer/actor Jennifer Lopez is releasing her latest album ‘Brave’ on USB memory stick.But these are no ordinary USB sticks – not for the humble, down-to-Earth Latina who is still very much of the block. No, trees died for these USBs as the Gresso-designed sticks have been fashioned from African Mahogany. There’s an African Blackwood version, too. These are two tree’s one J-Lo fansite noted were endangered. The elaborate sticks, topped off in second-hand Argos bling, carry a whopping 1GB of space on them. So, just enough room for a low bitrate ‘RnB’ album by a trumped-up Hollywood starlet. But why USB? Well, execs argue it’s to help stop piracy. If the tracks are already digital, J-Lo’s fans won’t be tempted to copy the CD. Does it work?
