The BBC has leased bandwidth to its competitor in order to make the ITV1 HD channel on Freeview a possibility, backing up broadcaster's current HD offering on Freesat.
It's expected that ITV1 HD will be ready to go in some areas by December, but it will be waiting on HD-ready set-top boxes before it can go ahead.
Although these aren't expected to be widely available until sometime in 2010, Freeview has said it is confident that at least half of UK households will be able to get ITV1 HD in time to watch the football World Cup in June.
Freeview is expected to announce more deets on its HD plans for the next three years next month, so we'll be sure to keep you updated with any news of that.
Until then, be sure to let us know what you think to ITV1 HD coming to Freeview below.
