It may have the strong whiff of Bono about it, but the 4GB newbie will see Apple contribute ten US bucks – about £6 – from the sale of each unit to the Global Fund for fighting HIV and Aids in Africa. We’re not sure why Apple didn’t announce the model before everyone put in their orders for the new multi-coloured range, but it’s surely odds-on to overtake sales of the pink and blue versions in the run up to Christmas. If all this talk of charity has got you feeling uncharacteristically generous, you needn’t stop in the Apple store – Motorola, GAP, Armani and Converse have all been dipping their products in red paint to gather cash for the fund, with Heinz and Liverpool FC poised to follow.
