The cat-and-mouse game between Apple and the hacking community has taken another turn, with reports that the iPod Touch and iPhone software has been 'jailbroken' once again, allowing third-part apps to be installed.

This means that brave users should be able to install the NES emulator on the Touch or unlock their iPhone - but only until Apple releases another software update. And be warned: indulge in such hacking and you'll invalidate your warranty.

My unlocked iPhone is still running the old 1.0.2 software. I'm not sure I have the courage to update it quite yet - although the lure of video output and the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store is strong. I'll keep you updated.
