Sorry pay as you go peeps, if you want to catch the iPhone when it finally launches in Europe, you'll need to sign your name on a fat 12-month contract. The news comes from Apple Europe's head honcho Pascal Cagni who's been speaking to the press in Italy. It unfortunately rules out any hopes of picking one up on PAYG and sneakily slipping a mid-contract SIM inside. Rats! Not that we know which network we'll be signing our subscriptions away to. Cagni's been staying tight-lipped on that one, as well as on when iPhone will launch here. 'Towards the end of the year' was all that could beaten out of him by hooded heavies. He did squeak on one other detail though. As we already know, YouTube will be supported, even though Flash may not be. But he did hint the clips could be served up in Apple's higher quality h.264 format.
